Ahmedabad: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar Monday met Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and assured his support to a sport events being organised by the state government.

"Akshay Kumar, who paid a courtesy visit to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, said he will remain present on the inaugural function of Khel Mahakumbh-2011," an official statement said. The `Desi Boyz` star, who is an expert in martial arts and is known for starring in action films, expressed his readiness to support sport events organised by the state, it said. "I am impressed by the far-sighted planning of the Gujarat CM and efforts made by the government here to inculcate sportsman spirit amongst children and youths," he was quoted as saying in the release.
