Udaipur: Latin pop star Shakira has arrived here and is likely to be one of the many stars to perform at the birthday bash of a real estate tycoon K.P. Singh here Tuesday, sources said.
Shakira, who is accompanied by her band members, reached the Lake City by a private charted plane around 8.30 p.m. Monday. Hundreds of fans gathered at the airport to meet her, but due to tight security, they had to satisfy themselves with a few glimpses of the star, who came dressed in a black jeans and a blue T-shirt.
"As soon as I came to know about Shakira`s arrival, I drove 10 kilometers to have a glimpse of her, but I was disappointed when she was taken away like that," said Rajeev Sharma, a fan.
From the airport, she was taken to the Hotel Udaivilas. This is 34-year-old singer`s second visit -- she was here in 2007 for a concert.
"She will have lunch at Lake Palace and then will rehearse for the performance at the birthday party of K.P. Singh," a source told reporters.
Shakira, who was appointed the Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF in 2003, is also likely to meet teenaged girls in the State Institute for Educational Training and Research (SIERT) Tuesday. She will speak with the girls on issue concerning them.
The presence of Shakira has caused a sensation in the town, about 405 kilometers from state capital Jaipur, with people trying to see her perform live.
Many top Bollywood stars including Shah Rukh Khan are likely to arrive here by the evening.
The singer is known for ‘Hips don`t lie’, ‘Waka Waka’ and ‘She Wolf’.
