Veteran actor-filmmaker Feroz Khan passes away

Maverick actor and filmmaker Feroz Khan breathed his last breath late Sunday night at his Bangalore residence. The veteran actor who was battling cancer for over a year had been in critical state for quite sometime now. He was 70 years. A prominent B-town personality Feroz Khan awed many with his signature style back in the 70’s. The yesteryear’s sensation is survived by his two children actor Fardeen Khan and daughter Laila.

Bangalore, April 27: Maverick actor and filmmaker Feroz Khan breathed his last breath late Sunday night at his Bangalore residence. The veteran actor who was battling cancer for over a year had been in critical state for quite sometime now. He was 70 years. A prominent B-town personality Feroz Khan awed many with his signature style back in the 70’s. The yesteryear’s sensation is survived by his two children actor Fardeen Khan and daughter Laila.
Known as a flamboyant ladies man, his first big hit was the 1965 film Onche Log followed by several other hits like Tasveer, Qurbani, Yalgaar, Janbaaz, Rani Aur Lalpari, Khhotte Sikkay and off late in films like Janasheen, Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena and most recently Welcome. He also appeared in an English-language film Tarzan Goes to India in 1962 opposite Simi Garewal. Family sources said his death was not 'unexpected' as his health had been falling steeply. Family sources said actor Hrithik Roshan, who is married to Sanjay Khan's daughter, and his filmmaker father Rakesh Roshan were expected to arrive here to pay their last respects to the director. The actor, who was born in Bangalore on Sep 25, 1939, died at his farmhouse on Tumkur Road here. The actor did his schooling in Bangalore after which he went to Mumbai to pursue a career in Bollywood. As recognition to his contribution to Indian cinema, Feroz was conferred with several awards including the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000 and the Zee Cine Awards Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008.
