US firm suing Britney Spears demands she be deposed

A licensing company, who is suing Britney Spears for breach of contract, has demanded that a judge order the singer to be deposed of the fragrance deal with them.

London: A licensing company, who is suing Britney Spears for breach of contract, has demanded that a judge order the singer to be deposed of the fragrance deal with them.
Brand Sense is seeking 10 million dollars in damages because the pop star and her father Jamie Spears allegedly stopped payment of royalties from the singer’s Elizabeth Arden fragrance range.
The company who brokered the deal with Elizabeth Arden said that they stopped receiving their 35 percent commission that was agreed as part of the contract terms. The judge handling Spears’ conservatorship has previously ruled that the singer does not have to sit for the deposition. “Brand Sense intends to seek immediate relief from the probate court``s order. The notion that Britney Spears is mentally or emotionally unfit to testify under oath is a sham,” RadarOnline quoted the court document stating. “Ms. Spears currently has the mental, emotional and physical capacity to endure the strain of a months-long international concert tour, make numerous public appearances, engage in interviews with the media, participate in numerous promotional campaigns for her various business enterprises, and maintain custody of her children,” it said.
