Mumbai: The eccentric actor, several of whose iconic roles have almost become synonymous with the definition of consummate acting – Johnny Depp – wishes that he was a ‘banjara’! The actor has earlier professed his love for out of the way roles, and films like ‘Edward Scissorhands’, ‘Pirates of The Caribbean’, ‘Alice in Wonderland’, etc. are all testimonies of the same.
Johnny Depp, whose role as the gypsy Cesar in the 2000 film ‘The Man Who Cried’, has earned him a lot of appreciation, believes that ‘banjaras’ (gypsies) are the people who know how to live their life to the fullest. Says the actor, “I’m very curious to know more about the nomadic tribes of India called the Banjara. I would love to explore life with these gypsies… Of what I have heard and read, these guys really know the definition of living.” Johnny Depp’s love for India and its exoticism is nothing new. The actor has always been enamoured by the country and says that he seeks inspiration from Indian music. Depp’s latest movie, ‘The Dark Shadows’, hit the theatres on Friday. The film has the actor essaying the role of a vampire.
