London: Cheryl Cole is facing further heartache, as her brother has been jailed for his part in an armed robbery last year.
Andrew Tweedy has been caged for six years after the frightening gang raid in which an imitation gun and machete were brandished, reports a daily.
Tweedy, 30, was involved in planning the robbery last May near his home in Longbenton, North Tyneside, which netted the robbers 2,000 pounds. He allowed the robbers to borrow his imitation handgun, let them set off from his flat and return there after the hold up, Newcastle Crown Court heard. Gavin Doig, prosecuting, said: "He provided the gun to the robbers and his home was both the meeting point before the robbery and the hide out after it." Tweedy has given the names of all those involved in the robbery to the police on his arrest. Andrew Tweedy has had 30 brushes with the law in the past, including convictions for robbery at the age of 13 and stabbing a man at the age of 17, which landed him a six year term in a Young Offenders Institute.
