Polanski’s Swiss neighbours unhappy over arrest

New York: Roman Polanski`s neighbours in Gstaad, Switzerland, have extended their support to the director, who has been arrested by Swiss authorities on a US warrant following charges of unlawful intercourse with a 13-year-old in 1977. The New York Post quoted a neighbour as saying: "Everybody loves him…. He built a beautiful chalet with old wood. He skis like crazy. He`s very family-oriented. I`ve never seen a man who changed his life so much."
Residents of the Swiss Alpine say Polanski has been victimised as he did not pay enough cash to authorities, unlike Marc Rich who lived in Zug to avoid imprisonment on US tax-evasion charges before finally being pardoned by the then-President Bill Clinton. A local said: "I guess Polanski wasn`t rich enough to pay off the right people." ANI
