New Delhi: Being the daughter of ace producer Kumar Mangat and having produced many films herself, Amita Pathak says she always wanted to be an actress. Pathak will be next seen playing the female lead in Mangat`s production ‘Bitto Boss’ after a hiatus of two years from acting. The romantic comedy will hit screens on April 13.
"Acting is my passion and production is my family business. It`s (production) quite an inevitable part of my life and will continue doing this. But I will concentrate on acting now because I always wanted to be an actress. I believe in quality rather than quantity, so there is always a gap between my films. In the film, I play a very important role in Bittu`s (central character of the film) life. My character is independent and outgoing. She`s the only girl in the town who is not charmed by Bitto," Pathak said.
The 22-year-old actress made her acting debut in 2008 with Adhyayan Suman starrer ‘Haal-e-dil’. The film bombed at the box-office. Then, Pathak showed her acting prowess in Ajay Devgn starrer ‘Aakrosh’, where she plays a major role to investigate the issue of honour killings.
"I was taken aback when `Haal-e-dil` flopped. As it was my debut project, I was quite excited to be a part of it and learnt that an actor`s life is full of ups and downs. Then I did `Aakrosh` and I got appreciation from many people in the industry about my part in the film," she said.
After her stint as an assistant producer to her father and brother, she made her production debut with ‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge’ under the banner Wide Frame Films in 2010. The movies starring Ajay Devgn, Paresh Rawal and Konkana Sensharma it did good business at the box office. Pathak is happy that her upcoming film is already creating buzz, be it Censor Board`s restriction on the promo or the film`s similarity with ‘Band Baaja Baarat’.
"I am happy that people are talking about my film. It`s nice that Censor Board has given U/A certificate to it. The dialogues in the film have no double meaning. It is a family film and is completely different from `Band Baaja Baarat`," said Pathak, who is currently shooting for a Punjabi film.
