Hyderabad: Mathematics and science are two different subjects and people often get confused about them, an expert said today.
"Science is totally based on facts and mathematics is based on theories and arguments," said Simon Lehna Singh, a well-known physicist and mathematician here.
He was delivering a lecture at the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) 2010 being held here.
He also spoke about a number of other related topics.
The ICM will conclude on 27. As many as 119 sessions, lectures and discussions were held today and almost same number of sessions would be held for the remaining two days.
According to MS Raghunathan, Chairman, Executive Organising Committee of ICM, there will be a DVD show of the ballet, Lilavati - Indian mathematician Bhaskara II`s treatise on mathematics in the 12th century - tomorrow.
