Mumbai: The cast and crew of ‘Barfi!’ must surely be dancing in joy. The film, which is India’s official entry to the Oscars next year, is the newest member of the 100 crore club.
Starring a mute Barfi (Ranbir Kapoor), an autistic Jhilmil (Priyanka Chopra) and Shruti (newcomer Ileana D’Cruz), and directed by Anurag Basu, ‘Barfi!’ has earned an amount of 100 crores over a short period of 10 days. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh’s tweet read: “#Barfi has grossed 100 cr *worldwide* in 10 days.”
The film, which tells a beautiful love story between a deaf and mute boy, an autistic girl and a ‘normal’ one, is shot in the picturesque northern part of West Bengal. ‘Barfi!’ has been able to win over critics and has emerged as a much-loved film among the audience. And like that wasn’t reason enough for celebrating, ‘Barfi!’, now has the 100 crore feather in its cap too!
