Mumbai: Ajay Devgn’s ‘Singham’ seems to have inspired the Maharashtra police tremendously. Initially, MNS Chief Raj Thackeray went gaga over Ajay’s portrayal of an honest Marathi Police officer in the film and now the Pune Police has expressed its admiration for the super hit film. Reportedly, an event was organized by the Pune Police to facilitate the superstar at the hands of social activist Anna Hazare. However, the event had to be cancelled owing to security reasons. Talking to a tabloid, a source said, “The Pune police wanted to felicitate Ajay Devgn for his role of an honest Marathi cop in ‘Singham’. Anna Hazare was flying down to Pune especially for the event. But while the organisers expected around three thousand people, over ten thousand turned up. In no time, the event became extremely chaotic. Entering the venue became impossible.” The venue was so overcrowded that Ajay and Anna couldn’t even enter the location, so the 72 year old Gandhian left for the airport. But Ajay was keen to meet Anna, so he hurriedly left for the airport along with his director Rohit Shetty and business associate Kumar Mangat. “Ajay wanted to meet Anna. When he learnt that Anna was heading towards the airport, Ajay rushed there and met up with the activist,” added the source. Expressing his excitement, Mangat said, “We were very excited about meeting Anna. However, since we could not reach the venue, we decide to meet him at the airport. It was a very nice evening. Ajay was extremely happy to have finally met him.”
