Alec Baldwin turns down Marvel villain role

London: Alec Baldwin has revealed that he turned down a villainous role in a Marvel superhero movie because his wife is due to give birth.

The `30 Rock` actor did not mention the movie he was offered, reported Contactmusic.

"I have been offered a role in a superhero movie, but I won`t mention which one. I don`t want to undo somebody because they hired someone else to do it. But they asked me to play a villain in one of these Marvel Comics movies.

"I wasn`t available. They wanted me to work a certain time, and because of my wife`s pregnancy, I had to turn down two films this summer that I wanted to do," he said.

While Baldwin is reluctant to name the role he declined, it`s possible the actor was approached for James Gunns` intergalactic movie, `Guardians of the Galaxy`, which is currently being filmed in England.

Baldwin will next be seen starring alongside Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett in Woody Allen`s critically acclaimed drama, `Blue Jasmine`.
