Los Angeles: Rooney Mara may have received great reviews for her performance in same sex drama ‘Carol’,  but the actress says being in the profession can make one feel "lonely".

The 30-year-old ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ star said acting is not a normal job as it demands to continuously stay away from family and friends, reported Entertainment Weekly.

"It's not a normal job, it's not a normal way of living; you're constantly away from home and away from your family and your friends and your loved ones. It can be very lonely," Mara said.

The actress said keeping herself busy in things that had nothing to do with acting or movies inspired her and filled the void.
