New Delhi: One of the most eligible bachelors in the Hindi film industry—Salman Khan celebrates his birthday today. The actor who is considered to be the big daddy of entertainment on both big as well as small screens has had an interesting journey to reach on top.

Hailing from a reputed 'filmy Khandaan', Sallu bhai's struggles have been no less. His first film was 'Biwi Ho To Aisi' (1988), however it was Sooraj Bharjatya's 'Maine Pyar Kiya in 1989 which gave country its most loved Prem in the face of Salman. It was this film which got him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.

After 'Maine Pyar Kiya', the early 90s belonged to Salman with films such as 'Saajan', 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun', 'Karan Arjun' and the likes. Despite featuring in super hit films—the 49-year-old actor even made some bad film choices, which made him feel the pain of flops for many years. Movies such as 'Yuvraj', 'Saawan... The Love Season', 'Veer' etc.

He gained popularity with films such as 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Ajay Devgn. This Sanjay Leela Bhansali film was an imporant milestone in both Sallu and Ash's career.
