New Delhi: This year’s Cannes film festival started on a good note (as usual) with celebrities dressed in their best garb for the red carpet and other luxurious paraphernalia on show during the festival. Now, who would have even an iota of doubt that such a prestigious festival would have a major faux pas waiting to happen? But that did happen and how! An entertainment website reveals that the guests at the festival were made to wait for a long time for the dinner to be served and when it was finally put on their plate, poor guests had to make their way to the nearest loo or worse to their hotel rooms to relieve themselves. Sounds unbelievable and hilarious at the same time. No? Here’s what happened: The Indian cinema centenary celebrations at Cannes were supposed to culminate in a gala dinner. But horror struck the guests present at the do when the people came to know that the waiters were not prepared to serve the large number of vegetarian guests. It took a long time for the appropriate meal to arrive minus the dessert. And guess what the thali comprised of? The poor guests had to swallow cold samosas, rock-hard puris, tiny helpings of dal makhni and stale palak paneer. Ughh! And post the meal, another bomb struck the guests and the organizers of the do. According to sources, the people who ate the food developed bad tummies and had to rush to the loo.
