Mumbai, Jan 08: Ajay Devgan has joined the big league of actors like Shah Rukh and Saif Ali Khan, but for the wrong reason. After the two superstars came under the arc-lights for smoking, Devgan too has landed in trouble for puffing the butt in public. According to reports, a Chandigarh based non-government organization has filed a complaint against the actor for allegedly smoking at a public place.
The Burning Brain Society, a prominent NGO in Chandigarh filed a case against Devgan on Tuesday. Speaking to reporters about the complaint, Chairperson Hemant Goswamy said, "We have submitted a written complaint at the offices of senior superintendent of police and director of health services, Chandigarh. They have assured us of appropriate action against the actor after probe."
Things went wary when Devgan was spotted lighting the butt on the Chandigarh airport. What’s more is that there is no way that the actor can deny these charges as he was caught on camera. Apparently, a photojournalist clicked Devgan while smoking at the airport.
And that’s not all. What makes matter worse is that the police officials were left waiting endlessely for a Rs 200 -- the fine imposed on him for smoking at the airport. Despite the long wait, the actor did not appear before the police officials.
The actor is in for some serious trouble as besides the public smoke ban, Chandigarh is also India’s smoke-free city.
