Dev Patel reveals Mario Testino branded him 'normal-looking'

Washington: Dev Patel, who rose to fame since the release of 'Slumdog Millionaire,' has opened up about Mario Testino insult.

The 24-year-old British actor, who recently split from his girlfriend Freida Pinto whom he met on the set of the Danny Boyle-directed flick in 2008 and are still incredibly close, said that he remembers going to this one Burberry show, and it was exciting as they've always been very kind to him, E! Online reported.

The 'Newsroom' star added that even as a gangly guy, he felt he was rocking their suits and so when he was invited to one of the fashion shows in London, he went even though he had this preconceived notion that he is not going to fit in with this crowd and it's going to be intimidating.

He continued that he was sitting there, and this fellow says, "Are you the one dating Freida Pinto?" to which Patel said "Yeah, I guess."

Patel added that after which the fellow gave an embarrassed shrug and said "Why? How? Why is she dating you? She's so beautiful" and he said "Yeah. She is!" and then the fellow said "But you're so, ugh, so normal-looking."

As per the reports, it turns out it was the photographer Mario Testino who insulted Patel.
