London: Leonardo DiCaprio has taken the number one spot on the list of Hollywood’s highest paid actors from Johnny Depp.
DiCaprio’s role in Christopher Nolan’s mind-bending science fiction flick ‘Inception’ helped him dethrone ‘Alice In Wonderland’ star Depp, the Daily Mail reported.
He earned 77 million dollars in 2010 from the success of his films ‘Inception’ and ‘Shutter Island’ to claim the top spot on the Forbes magazine list for the very first time in his career.
Depp was knocked down to second place with earnings of 50 million dollars, despite starring in the year’s second biggest box office success ‘Alice In Wonderland’, which pulled in 1.024 billion dollars.
Adam Sandler was third on the list with an estimated 40 million dollars. His most recent film ‘Grown Ups’ was his most successful with over 250 million dollars at the box office.
Will Smith took fourth place thanks in part to his soon to be released ‘Men in Black 3’, while Tom Hanks, who had the biggest flop of his career with the recently released ‘Larry Crowne’, is fifth among the highest paid.
Ben Stiller came in sixth on the list with 34 million dollars, while ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Sherlock Holmes’ star Robert Downey Jr came in seventh with earnings of 31 million dollars.
Mark Wahlberg made the eight spot due to his turn in the Oscar winning ‘The Fighter’, with annual earnings of 28 million dollars.
Tim Allen was placed ninth after earning a staggering 22 million dollars from voicing the role of Buzz Lightyear in the year’s biggest box office success ‘Toy Story 3’.
And Tom Cruise completed the top ten with 22 million dollars from his role in the latest Mission:Impossible series.
