Divorced Katy Perry’s beau Rob Ackroyd moving to LA to be nearer her

London: Katy Perry was officially divorced from Russell Brand on the weekend, and her new man is already planning to move to the US to be with her.

Florence + the Machine guitarist Rob Ackroyd is apparently planning the move in a bid to make a go of things with the singer. The couple have been dating since they met at California’s Coachella festival in April and have spent all the 27-year-old’s visits to the UK together. “Katy doesn’t want to make the same mistakes she made with Russell,” the Mirror quoted a source as saying. “The long distance thing didn’t work so if she’s going to settle down again, it needs to be with someone who can be close at hand when she needs them. “It will also take some compromising on her part. But Rob is making the move overseas towards the end of the year. It seems really sudden but it’s now or never for them,” the source said. The insider said that since the pair has spent the majority of the past few months apart, the proximity will be a test for the two. “They’ve spent the majority of the past few months apart so in one way it will actually be a test of their relationship to be around each other so much,” the source said. The California Gurls singer split from the British comedian on December 31 after 14 months together but she and Brand didn’t file a divorce agreement until February 8. Under Californian laws, the divorce doesn’t become legal until six months have passed, so the marriage was only finally ended on Saturday. Ackroyd is currently on tour with the band, though they had to cancel their last few dates when Flo lost her voice. On Sunday, he wrote a sweet message on Twitter, directed at Perry, which read: “I wish they all could be California girls.” ANI
