Don`t mind being under constant scrutiny: Arjun Kapoor

Mumbai: Arjun Kapoor, who kick-started his Bollywood career with `Ishaqzaade`, thinks that the constant scrutiny around an actor`s life is a "small price" they have to pay for being in this "great profession". "There is no point in harping and dwelling on it and feel bad about it. Rather, one must continue living his life," Arjun said. "These things are part and parcel of our lives. It is a very small price for such a great profession to be in. There is no point in looking at it and thinking," said the actor, who would next be seen in `Aurangzeb`, releasing next week. Arjun also described the reports of his rivalry with `Gunday` co-star Ranveer Singh as "unfortunate". "On screen we are playing best friends and off screen also we are best friend. It is unfortunate that these things come up and media likes to make these rumours. It is boring and tedious for us to talk about it. Hopefully when our film comes out then people will get a sense of how we get along," he said. "I feel sometimes media should be responsible and then I realise they are doing their job. As long as they don`t hit below the belt and don`t disrespect and judge you because of your personal life, I am fine with it," he said. Both Arjun and Ranveer will be seen together as dons in `Gunday`, which is set in Kolkata. Actress Priyanka Chopra plays the role of a Bengali girl in the movie. "I know Priyanka even before we started working on `Gunday`. I was an assistant on `Salam-E-Ishq`, so we got along very well. She is fantastic to work with, we had great time and enjoyed," Arjun said. His another project lined up is `Two States`, based on the 2009 novel of the same name written by Chetan Bhagat. The film is a love story of a Punjabi boy (Arjun) who falls in love with a Tamil girl (Alia Bhatt). "I just read the screenplay. It is a blast working with Alia. She is fun, energetic, very warm and connected to her roots. She is mature than her age. People will get to see her different side in the film," Arjun said. The actor is also excited about his upcoming release `Aurangzeb`, directed by Atul Sabharwal, where he will be seen playing a double role. "It is great fun as in one film you get to live two characters. It feels good as your director and producer have enough faith in you to play two parts. I think it has made me a much better actor," he said. The film has an ensemble cast including Rishi Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Deepti Naval, Amrita Singh and South actor Prithviraj. "They (veterans) just elevated my performance by allowing me to act with them. It raises my performance level, they are so easy, chilled out and make you feel comfortable and not let you feel they are big and veteran stars," he said. "They have such a good understanding of the craft that they mould themselves as per the requirement. I observed and learnt from them," Arjun said. Releasing on May 17, the film also stars Sasha Agha, daughter of Pakistani Singer Salma Agha. "To see a newcomer like her and her confidence, it gives happiness. She is a typical Hindi film heroine, she likes to sing and dance. It feels great to work with somebody of your age and sensibility," Arjun said. PTI
