New Delhi: Cricketer Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi’s son and Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan addressed the media at the Pataudi Palace on Friday hours after the burial of his father.
Saif thanked the media and all the well wishers for the support following the demise of his father.
“I would just like to thank everyone for their very kind wishes. I would also say that he would have been very touched by the support and the wonderful things that the media has said. And I would like to thank all his contemporaries and fellow cricketers, who have written such beautiful things in the papers,” said Saif Ali Khan.
“And indeed all his friends, who have passed on their wishes to us and as family, we thank you for your support,” he added.
Saif’s girlfriend Kareena Kapoor appeared next to Pataudi’s wife, Sharmila Tagore for few minutes at the balcony of the Pataudi palace along with other women of the family. Both looked sombre. Kareena’s sister, Karisma Kapoor and mother Babita were also seen consoling Saif.
Speaking to the media, Karisma said “I had the good fortune to meet him. He was a great man.”
Tiger Pataudi breathed his last at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi on Thursday evening. He was buried at the family’s burial ground in Pataudi, 26 km from Gurgaon, earlier on Friday.
Sources close to Saif stated that the actor is now planning to dedicate his solo production ‘Agent Vinod’ to his late father. Speaking to a news website, a source said, “Saif is really upset since he wanted his father to watch his film, as he always believed that his parents were his best critics”.
“Saif is also planning to pay a tribute to the legendary cricket star in his film,” added another source.
