Mumbai: Deepak Tijori, who played an important role in the 1990 hit ‘Aashiqui’, says it would have been nice if Mahesh Bhatt had cast him in the remake as well.
"I am really looking forward to watching the film (`Aashiqui 2`). I really wish that Bhatt saab had cast me for some part over there. But I am definitely sure he will come out with something wonderful," the 51-year-old said here Wednesday at the launch of the first look of his directorial venture ‘Rock In Love’.
Deepak played lead actor Rahul Roy`s friend in the original film directed by Bhatt.
The remake is being directed by Mohit Suri and stars Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead. It is slated for a May 10 release.
Talking about his film ‘Rock In Love’, Deepak said he kept giving reference of ‘Aashiqui’ to his actors while shooting the film.
After working in films like ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’, ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’ and ‘Aaina’, Deepak turned director with ‘Oops!’. He also directed ‘Tom, Dick, and Harry’, ‘Fareb’ and ‘Khamoshh... Khauff Ki Raat’, but none could hit the bull`s eye at the box office.
Deepak says his "Rock In Love" is also a love story and friends play important role in the narrative.
"I keep talking about `Aashiqui` to my actors. There are characters, which are friends, something what I did in `Aashiqui` and I give them (actors) examples. So `Aashiqui` is something that is always going to live with me," he said.
