Mumbai: `Delhi Belly` star Imran Khan says he is in awe of his uncle Aamir Khan`s sense of feeling audience`s pulse, his perfectionist attitude as well as his honesty.
Imran, who is the nephew of Aamir, started his acting career as a child artist in his uncle Aamir`s films `Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak` (1988) and `Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander` (1992). In both the films, he played the role of a younger character of Aamir.
In 2008, Aamir launched Imran as a lead actor with `Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na`. The film was produced by Imran`s two uncles-- Aamir and Mansoor Khan and proved to be one of the biggest hits of the year and also won him Best Male Debut at the 54th Filmfare Awards.
Imran was then seen in `Kidnap` with Sanjay Dutt and Minissha Lamba, where he played a negative role. The movie flopped at the box office. His next appearance was in the action film, `Luck` with Shruti Haasan and Sanjay Dutt. Karan Johar`s `I Hate Luv Storys` went on to become a hit and Kunal Kohli`s `Break Ke Baad` became an average grosser at the box office.
`Delhi Belly`, an English comedy, gave Imran his biggest critical and commercial hit. The film, which released this year, was produced by Aamir.
"With Aamir what I always admired is...I think what everyone is jealous of is...his ability to figure out what the pulse of an audience is. He can read a story or hear something or watch a film...and he can say this is what they (audience) think. He can put or say one little thing and it is done...this is what it is and this is what works. It is
uncanny that how he does that, how he just picks that up,"
Imran told reporters.
"I think perfectionist is a good thing. If you see Aamir mamu`s track record, the kind of films he has made and acted in...whatever he is doing, he is doing it correct. I am less than him...though my intention is always to do good films and do my best. But my knowledge is less than him. I don`t have that much knowledge and experience...hopefully I will reach there one day," he said.
When asked what he has learnt from Aamir, Imran says, "His honesty. Most important thing in his life is whatever he wants to do...he wants to do it correctly. If has to enter a particular lane and there is no entry...he will go around say two-and-half kilometre and then enter the lane...even if the building is just the second one in the lane. This is what I have learnt from him. Whatever you do...and whatever be the
cost...it must be correct."
Basking in the success of `Delhi Belly` Imran is all looking forward to his next release by Yash Raj Films `Mere Brother Ki Dulhan` opposite Katrina Kaif. The film releases on September 9.
