Kevin Bacon kept kids from acting to save them from ‘lifetime of scrutiny’

London: Hollywood couple Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick have discouraged their children to take up acting as a profession in order to protect them from the ‘lifetime of scrutiny and rejection’ they have endured in the spotlight.

The ‘Footloose star’ and his actress wife Sedgwick were determined to dissuade their 21-year-old son Travis and 19-year-old daughter Sosie, from following in their footsteps and landing up in show business. Moreover, he was glad that both the children had no interest in becoming movie stars like their parents. “We were really so negative about (acting) when they were younger that neither one of them are interested and they`re pretty much on their way to doing what it is that they want to do at this point,” the Daily Express quoted him as saying. "Its kind of weird that we were (discouraging), in retrospect. I mean, I think for both of us we were afraid of subjecting our children to a lifetime of scrutiny and rejection,” he added. ANI
