Legendary actor Omar Sharif dies at 83

Golden Globe award winner and Oscar nominated actor Omar Sharif has died at the age of 83. Known for his role in David Lean's 1962 epic 'Lawrence of Arabia' and 'Doctor Zhivago' had a heart attack in Cairo.

New Delhi: Golden Globe award winner and Oscar nominated actor Omar Sharif has died at the age of 83. Known for his role in David Lean's 1962 epic 'Lawrence of Arabia' and 'Doctor Zhivago' had a heart attack in Cairo. 

The Egyptian born actor was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and was in a hospital being treated for the same. He has worked in several big names of Hollywood including Barbara Streisand and Gregory Peck.

He also starred with his wife, Egyptian actress Faten Hamama, in several movies as romantic leads. 

Interestingly the actor was also one of the best professional Bridge players and was a regular in casinos in France.
