Lindsay Lohan too busy to return necklace

Los Angeles: Lohan, who recently hit headlines for allegedly stealing a necklace worth USD 2,500 has said that she was too busy to return it back to the store.
The `Mean Girls` star, who is currently on probation stemming from a drink driving conviction in 2007 has been accused of stealing the necklace from Californian boutique but claimed she did not have time to return it, TMZ online reported. "Ms Lohan was in possession of the necklace and wanted to give the necklace back to the store the day after she took it from the store, but she was very busy," Lohan`s assistant said. But the 24-year-old star`s lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley believes the charge is unfair as she disputed the estimated value of the jewellery. "We intend to challenge the prosecution`s case because the truth is, Ms Lohan didn`t steal anything. But even if she had, it seems to me that the appropriate charge, based on the fair market value of the goods, should have been petty theft and not grand theft. A USD 5 lump of coal with a USD 2,500 price tag is still a USD 5 lump of coal," said Holley. The actress next court hearing is scheduled for February 23. PTI
