New Delhi: In a bid to celebrate International Dance Day, Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit and Indian dancer and choreographer, Terence Lewis , launched contemporary dance festival in showbiz capital, Mumbai.
The five-day dance festival, 'Jugnee', first ever contemporary festival in Mumbai, would provide a platform for budding artists to show their talent.
Talking about the festival, Lewis said 'Jugnee' is not site-specific and an artist can perform even under a tree.
"Me and Madhuri are both on same page because we wanted to create a festival which allows people to come together to celebrate dance, to enjoy dance, bring all international teachers and national teachers together, to give emerging artist a chance to perform on this platform which otherwise is difficult for them," he added.
Iconic dancer Dixit is supporting the festival through her digital application 'Dance with Madhuri' (DWM), which is one of the first Indian apps on dance.
"This festival is primarily to discover talents and give opportunities to dancers to perform their art in front of the world. Because of that I think I am very proud and my online dance academy 'Dance with Madhuri' is collaboration with this festival," said Dixit.
The International Dance Day is celebrated on April 29 every year. As per reports, around 50 classical dancers performed a flash mob in southern Chennai city last year.
