Meera Syal’s daughter ‘glassed friend’s ex-boyfriend’ at b’day party

London: Teenage daughter of Indian-origin actress Meera Syal glassed a man at a birthday party for breaking up with her friend, a court was told yesterday.
Model Christian Pannell, 18, gave evidence in the Snaresbrook Crown Court against Chameli Bhatia, 19, claiming that Bhatia gave him ‘strange stares’ throughout the evening and deliberately ‘barged into him’. “I was on the dancefloor towards the end of the night. I saw out of the corner of my eye Chameli Bhatia walking towards me,” the Daily Mail quoted Pannell as saying. ‘I had a glass of vodka and orange juice in my hand. She pushed my right hand and the glass itself up into my face with some force.” “I went down on one knee. I touched my face and I could see blood and drink.” Following the mishap, Pannell had around 14 stitches and has been left with a scar below his right eye, the jury heard. Bhatia purportedly held a grudge against Pannell after he ended his relationship with one of her friends two weeks before the party in September last year. Denying the allegations, Bhatia has maintained that the incident was a ‘terrible accident’. ANI
