Aamir Khan invited by parliamentary panel to discuss medical issues New Delhi: A parliamentary panel has invited actor Aamir Khan, who exposed malpractices in the medical sector on his ‘Satyamev Jayate’ TV programme, for an interaction on the issue. He will appear Thursday morning with his team.

Rajya Sabha MP Shanta Kumar of the Bharatiya Janata Party, who heads the parliamentary standing committee on commerce, has invited the actor to share the knowledge they gained while researching the episode.

Aamir`s spokesperson confirmed to reporters that he will be there Thursday morning to interact with the panel.

Aamir, 47, lifted the veil from the malpractices in the medical profession through his maiden TV show ‘Satyamev Jayate’ and discussed issues like doctors taking cuts and other unethical medical practices. He presented live examples of people who could have been cured with simple medicines but were advised by doctors to undergo surgeries, robbing them of precious money.

Broadcast May 27, the well-researched episode also addressed issues like overpricing of life-saving drugs.

The expose brought brickbacks and criticism from the Indian Medical Association (IMA), which wanted Aamir to apologise. But he said his conviction in the concept and aim of the show have left him fearless of negative reactions.

"Satyamev Jayate", which marks the Bollywood`s thinking actor`s entry into the field of television, has so far discussed issues like female foeticide, child sex abuse and domestic violence.

In fact, parliament has only now passed a bill on stringent action aginst those guilt of child sex abuse.

The actor has struck the right chord with the audiences as people are watching the show with great interest. Aamir says this is his way of contributing to society by creating awareness.

Now atleast people of India would feel something that Goverment is serious to take up their voices.I repeat here again, only Drs.are not RESPOSIBL PL..Most of them are very good but Pharma cos. even mejor ones as well, are eqully resposible for such dirty practices by offering Drs.trips abrod, money(Cash)& two Ws.Even dealers are no less involved in such practices. Aamir, you have to ask ur.team to work on all above,I'm sure u will learn a lot out of it.Ultimately, poor patients are the suffers.Goverment has to bring out the TRUTH behind such issues related to people of India.Punish wrong doers for life time weather they are Drs.,Med.institutions,Hospitals & PHARMA COS.(most resposible).Yes,I would say people have lost their moral.I have experienced all of such nearly as a Pharma man & as a sr.citizan for many many years.Good job done Aamir! Thanks dear. - PHIROZE MEHTA. - SURAT.
Great! inviting Aamir khan by parliamentary panel is showing that malpractices crossed its limits in India. after Aamir khan's that episode some doctor s and medical institutions was demanding his apology instead of blaming our own communities greedness, but public supported noble mission of Aamir and the channel and told to go ahead. we are the poor Indian people we don't know what is the medical science, we once believed all doctors are "gods" but now we believe doctors are blood suckers (sorry some exceptions are there but very rare). in this case media awareness is very important. Oh! Aamir and the channel wish you all the best. - Ismail VKT - New Delhi
