Chennai: Rajinikanth’s larger than life persona has indeed made him a phenomenon of sorts - someone who can do all impossible things possible! Villains onscreen do get roughed up unapologetically but here’s what happened to Sushil Gupta, a film financer when he tried rubbing the veteran’s family the wrong way!
Reportedly, Gupta, who had lent some money to Rajini’s wife Latha and his daughter Soundarya had flown to Chennai to get his dues back. But he was disillusioned when a police complaint was lodged against him with the Madras Court and he was put behind the bars in a local police station.
Talking to a tabloid, a source said, “Financer Sushil Gupta had been in the news for all the wrong reasons. He went to Chennai on Monday morning. He claimed that he had to ask for his money back from Latha and Soundarya. He had apparently helped them monetarily for an educational trust.”
“However, when Sushil went to Chennai, Latha and Soundarya filed a case against him. He was arrested for interrogations. He was in the local jail for an entire day,” added the source.
Apparently, Gupta claimed of having given Rs 2.57 crore to Latha for an educational trust. He also claimed that allegations of him threatening to sue Rajini’s family are wrong and completely baseless.
However, a source close to the superstar’s family said, “Soundarya has nothing to do with this. The matter is about Shri Raghuvendra Education Society. The money was given to them. Latha Rajinikanth is one of the members of the society. She was probably a guarantor in the deal. That`s the reason she has been dragged into this matter. However, there has been an out of court settlement on it.”
When contacted by the tabloid, the money lender said, "The matter is resolved."
