Sanjay Dutt furlough extends another 14 days: Reports

New Delhi: Actor Sanjay Dutt's furlough from his jail term at Yerawada in Pune, has extended for 14 more days.

According to reports, the actor applied for extension of his furlough for two weeks after being out during Christmas and New Year. He was released on a 14-day furlough on December 24 as he wanted to be with his family during the New Year celebration.

Dutt left his home for Yerwada prison in Pune on Thursday only to return apparently due to a confusion between the jail and the police authorities about his application seeking extension of leave.

Earlier in the day, Maharashta CM Devendra Fadnavis had stated that the law will be followed in the furlough case. Sanjay Dutt's furlough and previous paroles have been under criticism as many feel that the actor is being given preferential treatment due to his star status.

He is currently with his wife and children at his home in Mumbai.

The 55-year-old actor, was convicted for illegal possession of a 9mm pistol and an illegal AK-56 assault rifle during the communal upheaval and subsequent Mumbai blasts in 1993, under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act (TADA) .
