New Delhi: Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt is likely to file a petition in the Supreme Court today urging a review of the jail sentence given out to him in connection with the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts. Dutt, who has been convicted under the Arms Act for his role in the 1993 Mumbai bombings, will move the Supreme Court by filing a review petition against its March 21 judgment, saying his confessions under TADA cannot be used against him because he was acquitted under TADA and has now been tried under the Arms Act. All these mean that if Dutt’s plea, which has been prepared by a Delhi-based legal team, is strong enough this time around, he could see fate turn in his favour. But if the plea is suspended, a curative petition can also be filed. The actor had earlier made it clear that he had not applied for pardon and would surrender to the authorities as per the Supreme Court order in the 1993 Bombay bomb blasts case.
