Mumbai: Bollywood filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra says it is a good time to be in the industry for writers as the spot light is on them.

"It is a fascinating time for our country and for our profession. We should grab the opportunity to tell stories to the world. It is fascinating time for writers," Mehra, 52, told reporters here at the

Mumbai Mantra -CineRise Screenwriting Programme.

"There are people who want to listen to great stories today. There is an audience who appreciates good work. We are fortunate to be part of Indian cinema where the spot light is coming to writers," the "Rang De Basanti" helmer said.

Director Sriram Raghavan who was also present, says, "A good script does wonders for everyone who are part of the film?actor, director, producer, technicians and the cast and crew of the film."

Director Navdeep Singh of "NH 10" fame too feels writing is an essential part of filmmaking.

"I am pleased and honoured to be here. It is important that we have a good script as that eventually makes a film good. We need talented writers. There is lack of good writers," Singh added.
