Tributes pour in for Jagjit Singh

Zeenews Bureau Mumbai: Veteran singer Jagjit Singh, who is responsible for churning out finest ghazals in Bollywood, has left his fans in a state of shock. Reacting to the news of maestro’s death, celebrities took to Twitter to express their feelings. Many playback singers also expressed shock when Zeenews contacted them. Here’s what they tweeted: Talking to Zeenews playback singer Suresh Wadkar said, “It’s a great loss for the Indian music fraternity. It’s a rude shock.” Javed Akhtar: The voice of Ghazal ends with Jagjit Singh. His death has caused an irreparable loss to the Hindi film and music industry. Lata Mangeshkar: I knew him well. I hoped he would come out of the coma. But the God willed otherwise. He worked very hard... sang from his heart. Listening to him, people got intoxicated. Asha Bhonsle: Listening to him was a soothing experience. If one wanted to get away from everyday stress, the best way was to play a Jagjit Singh record. Usha Uttup: I can't believe it. It was because of him that ordinary men could enjoy good Ghazal. We worked together in a jingle when I was just staring my career. Ghulam Ali: He was very close to me. We met for the first time in 1976 in London and since then our bond only strengthened. He was a very jolly person.
