`Star Trek 2` will make fans cry, says director JJ Abrams
London: Director JJ Abrams says `Star Trek: Into Darkness` will make fans of the sci-fi franchise shed tears of pure emotion.
Abrams promises the sequel to 2009`s franchise reboot will have audiences in tears at the end of the film thanks to its message of hope and love triumphing over fear.
"The goal of this movie is to make you cry. If the movie does its job, then by the end of the movie, you will have had a reaction involving the eyes. If the movie works, then there`s definitely an emotional component.
"It is very much about hope, about love, about romance, and about facing something that is truly terrifying and finding a way through the connection of your family and surviving and being stronger afterwards."
Zachary Quinto, who plays Captain Spock, added that the Entreprise crew will be put in far greater danger than ever before by Benedict Cumberbatch`s villainous terrorist character John Harrison.
"There`s reason to worry. There is an insidiousness and ruthlessness and fierce intelligence to Harrison that almost undermines the interconnectivity of the crew. The stakes are much higher," Quinto said.
