London: Bee Gees star Robin Gibb has claimed to be on the ‘road to recovery’ while still battling liver cancer.

The legendary singer has been fighting for life since being diagnosed with the disease while his loving wife Dwina is taking care of him.

However, despite being rushed to hospital with suspected pneumonia last week, Mr Gibb wrote an upbeat message on his blog yesterday claiming that he would ‘get well’ due to the ‘prayers and good wishes’ of his fans.

“I wish to thank my family, friends and fans and the many thousands of people who do not know me but have enjoyed Bee Gees music and have wished me well. I am very touched by your love, kindness and support,” the Daily Mail quoted him as saying.

“This concern from people all over the world has demonstrated the depth of feeling and love that the Bee Gees have achieved over the years. It is humbling and I take your prayers and good wishes for my health very seriously.

“I have been very unwell and am now on the road to recovery, and your prayers and wishes are a great tonic to me. I believe because of you I will get well and my deepest love goes out to you all. Robin xxxx,” he wrote.

It was revealed only at the weekend that the multi-millionaire songwriter was gravely ill.

He had sparked fears for his health after appearing on ITV’s The Alan Titchmarsh Show last month, where he had looked frail.

He had been treated for inflammation of the colon two weeks earlier.

“Robin is trying to remain optimistic - but he was taken to hospital last week with suspected pneumonia,” a close friend was quoted as saying.

“This is all very hard to take in for him - and everyone that loves him,” he added.

Robin’s 91-year-old mother Barbara, was by his bedside as was his older brother Barry, who had flown in from America to be by his side.
