New Delhi: Cycling was a normal everyday physical activity for the people in Olsztyn, Poland, but it was made every bit as interesting and exciting when they received a unique gift from the local authorities.

A brand new solar-powered bicycle path that glows bright blue all night long awaited them when they set out for a ride.

The awesome bicycle path that is about 100 meters long, has become a tourist magnet of late and has created a global buzz.

The presence of the luminophore particles in the asphalt is what makes the trail emit a ghostly blue glow, which get charged by the sunlight. This way, the glow doesn't die since the bicycle path is 'on charge' the entire day.

As per iTech Post, Igor Ruttmar, president of TPA Sp. z o.o, the company responsible for the track, said that the luminophore particles are able to light up for as long as 10 hours. The particles are also available in many colors but the designers of the path picked the blue color to blend in well with the surrounding landscape of the Lyna River, small hills and the rugged feel of the countryside.

Located near Lidzbark Warminski, the track is still in its testing phase. The town of Olsztyn in the Masurian Lakes District of Poland was chosen to test it out, partly because the landscape created an attractive setting.

Along with being eco-friendly, the primary aim of the solar-powered bicycle path is to improve the safety of people who like to go biking at night and prevent accidents.
