A woman’s message to Alpesh Thakor on ‘PM eats mushrooms’ remark

Gujarat Congress OBC leader Alpesh Thakor’s latest dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi doesn’t seem to have gone down well with many. Thakor had said that PM Modi eats mushroom from Taiwan worth Rs 4 lakh everyday to become fairer.

Responding to the statement by the OBC leader, Messi Joe, a woman who claims to be from Taiwan, has posted a video saying no such mushroom is available in her country, asking politicians in India to refrain from dragging her country’s name in electoral battles.

She says, "I am Messi Joe, I'm from Taiwan, I saw a news today that is from India, its Indian leader saying that there is some mushroom in Taiwan which costs $1,200 and if you eat that mushroom you can make your skin lighter and white. I haven't heard any such thing in my country and this is impossible."

Speaking at a rally in Gujarat on Tuesday, Thakor had said, "Someone told me that what Modi ji eats, you can't eat because it's not poor people's food. So I asked what such food does he eat? He said he eats mushrooms. I asked what was wrong in that, mushrooms are widely available. He said that he doesn't like the ones we eat, the ones he eats are from Taiwan and the cost of one mushroom is Rs 80,000. He eats five of them every day."

He went on to say that "it's been going on ever since Modi was the CM of Gujarat" and added, "I saw his (PM Modi's) photo of 35 years ago, he was as dark as me, now how is he so fair. A PM who can eat mushrooms worth four lakhs every day, mushrooms worth one crore twenty lakhs every month, won't like regular meals."

Thakor is the founder of the OSS (OBC, SC and ST) Ekta March. He joined the Congress officially on 23 October 2017.
