Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said some people link `Adhyatma` with religion, which is unfortunate.

"It is unfortunate that some people link `Adhyatma` with religion. They are very different," Prime Minister Modi while addressing a programme to mark centenary celebrations of the Yogoda Satsang Society.

Hailing the founder of the Yogoda Satsanga Society, Prime Minister said Yogi ji (Paramahansa Yogananda) left the shores of India to spread his message but he remained connected to India all the time.

He further said that the path shown by Yogananda was not about `Mukti` but about `Antaryatra`.

Stating that India`s spirituality is its strength, the Prime Minister said that once an individual develops an interest in Yoga and starts diligently practicing it, it will always remain a part of his or her life.

Prime Minister Modi earlier in the day released commemorative postage stamp on 100th anniversary of the Yogoda Satsang Society.

Yogoda Satsanga Society is a non-profit religious organization founded by Paramahansa Yogananda in 1917.

One major aim of YSS is to reveal the complete harmony, basic oneness, and common foundations of all true religions.
