Fog disrupts normal life in Punjab, Haryana; Amritsar records a low of 5 degrees C

A thick blanket of fog today disrupted normal life at most places in Punjab and Haryana, where the minimum temperature hovered above normal.

Chandigarh: A thick blanket of fog today disrupted normal life at most places in Punjab and Haryana, where the minimum temperature hovered above normal.

Fog reduced visibility at several places including Bathinda, Gurdaspur, Faridkot and Amritsar in Punjab and at Ambala, Panchkula and Karnal in Haryana, a MeT Department official said here.

Visibility levels were low due to fog early today at Chandigarh also, the common capital of the two states.

Chandigarh today recorded a minimum temperature of 9.4 degrees C, which was three notches above normal.

Ambala in Haryana registered a low of 8.8 degrees Celsius, up three notches against normal while Karnal recorded a low of 6.5 degrees C. However, Hisar had a cold night at 3.6 degrees C, which was three degrees below normal.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a low of 5 degrees C, two notches more than normal.

Ludhiana registered a low of 6.6 degrees C, up one notch while Patiala's minimum settled at 7.5 degrees C, also a notch above normal.
