New Delhi: Fidgeting or toe-tapping while in a sitting posture is no longer an annoying habit now. According to the finding of a recent study fidgeting at desk prevents cardiovascular diseases. An extended period of sitting in the same position at office or during long flights reduces the blood flow to the legs and invites many heart problems.

Researchers from the University of Missouri found that the constant shaking of feet increases blood flow, reduces sheer stress and keeps your heart healthy

In a real world scenario, fidgeting is an act that exposes only one leg but in the study published in American Journal of Physiology, researchers recommended to tap both legs to maximize the beneficial effect. However, the researchers caution that fidgeting is not a substitute for walking and exercise, which produce more overall cardiovascular benefits.
