New Delhi: This might sound unbelievable but it's true - a medical clinic that charges patients only Re 1 has been inaugurated at near Ghatkopar railway station in Mumbai on Wednesday.

As per reports, four other such medical facilities will be set up at Kurla, Mulund, Wadala and Dadar railway stations in about two months.

The project of this unique clinic is the brainchild of of Dr Rahul Ghule and his elder brother Dr Amol Ghule.

The main goal of setting up the 'one rupee clinic' is to provide emergency help to railway accident victims as well as give medical treatment to the general public.

The clinic will have MBBS doctors 24x7 for patients with routine illness. Besides, these facilities will also have visiting doctors who are specialised in skin disease, diabetes and gynaecology.

On the first day, more than 60 patients visited the clinic, with majority of the visitors were senior citizens who had come for general check ups like blood pressure, diabetes and joint pain.

They plan to extend the facility to 15 more stations.
