New Delhi: High uric acid levels in the blood stream is not good for health as it increases the risk of developing the common form of arthritis called gout. We should maintain a good eating habits and have proper medication to avoid gout. One can also decrease the levels of uric acid by reducing the intake of alcohol, sugary foods and reduce purine rich foods like meat and poultry.

Here are some foods that helps to maintain normal uric acid levels:

Cherries

Cherries contains anti - inflammatory substances named anthocyanis that helps to reduce uric acid levels. The fruit also neutralize the acids and help prevent inflammation and pain.

Berries

One should include berries especially strawberries, and blueberries in their diet as they have anti-inflammatory properties that helps to maintain uric acid levels.

Apple

We should eat one apple daily as malic acid in the fruit neutralizes uric acid and thus provides relief.

Lime

The citric acid found in lime is a solvent of the uric acid .The juice of half a lime squeezed into a glass of water should be taken twice daily.

French bean juice

Drink a glass of french bean juice daily to treat gout or high uric acid.

Celery seed

Celery seed is one of the popular home remedy to lower uric acid levels in the body.
