New Delhi: Life took a turn for an 80-year-old man with severe Alzheimer's, after videos showing him sitting in a car with his son and crooning songs during their very Carpool Karaoke went viral. The videos posted by his son soon became a worldwide hit.

Teddy McDermott, the man who at times can't even recognise his own family, soon received an offer from Decca Records to release his own version of the Frank Sinatra classic You Make Me Feel So Young, after his videos clocked up over 40 million views.

Check out one of the videos of their Carpool Karaoke session posted by Simon, below:

Teddy, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2013, remembers the lyrics to numerous songs, while he barely recognises his own son, because of which he earned the name “The Songaminute Man.”

His son, Simon, discovered that singing in the car, while he drove his dad around Blackburn, helped him cope with his condition. He posted the videos online to raise awareness and raised $150,000 in the process. Singing is considered an effective therapy for people with dementia, mainly because memory for music is often preserved the longest. It also helps uplift their social life.

Below is a small teaser of Teddy's single, You Make Me Feel So Young.

The song, which was recorded in London with the Guy Barker Big Band and mixed and mastered at the famous Abbey Road Studios, is slated for release on September 23rd, 2016. The royalties from the single will be split between Alzheimer's Society and the McDermott family.
