PM Narendra Modi in Himachal Pradesh LIVE: Latest updates

In Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district on Thursday to address a public meeting in Rehan which comes under the Fatehpur constituency.

Shimla: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in the poll-bound Himachal Pradesh on Thursday. PM will address two election rallies here - first in Rehan in the Fatehpur Assembly constituency in Kangra district and another in Dhaula Kuan in Paonta Sahib. 

The state is slated to go to assembly polls on November 9.

Here are the highlights of his speech in Himachal: 

At Dhaula Kuan rally: 

- We linked it (govt schemes) with Aadhar, started direct transfer to bank accounts and now Rs 57,000 crore, that was being syphoned off, has been saved: PM

- Receipts (for govt schemes) were issued for 10,000 people but in reality, beneficiaries were 5000-6000. Money was released on fake receipts: PM

- What is the identity of Virbhadra government? The only answer to this govt, party and party leaders is 'corruption': PM Modi

- There are few elections where people pre-decide whom to elect. This is such an election. Congress knows they'll be wiped off: PM Modi in Himachal's Dhaula Kuan

Kangra speech:

- Even Pandit Nehru used to talk about ending Jan Sangh from its roots. We want Congress-mukt Bharat, to rid the country of such rotten thoughts process of Congress: PM 

- Congress is no more an institution of Mahatma Gandhi, of those who fought for freedom. It is a party mired in dynasty, corruption..we want rid India of such rotten Congress: PM 

- Nation is witness to how the Doklam issue was dealt with, but the Congress even questioned that: PM

- There is no war in which sons of Himachal have not participated. Today, India is fighting Pakistan's proxy war in Kashmir, says Modi

- There are five monsters in Himachal Pradesh which we need to get rid off - Mining mafia, forest mafia, drug mafia, tender mafia and transfer mafia: PM Modi

- We had never heard even in ancient times that ruling people helped create demons. But today, it pains to say that Congress government created five demons in 'Devbhumi' Himachal Pradesh. They are now so strong that government in Shimla is dancing on their tunes: PM 

- My country is such that if you are honest and do some mistake, people forgive them. However, if a person does something with an evil intention, the country never forgives: PM

- Congress has become a laughing club. Congress must introspect why the entire country is turning away from the Congress leaders and their party: PM

- Himachal Pradesh CM is embroiled in corruption and is out on a bail. Yet, the Congress manifesto says there will be zero tolerance of corruption. Even a child won't believe it: PM Modi

- I have worked extensively in Himachal Pradesh. I am very familiar with all cities and know each and every street here, says PM Modi.

- PM Modi asks people to vote for BJP on November 9 when Himachal goes to poll. "It is time to bid farewell to those who have looted Himachal Pradesh," he says.
