Manchester: Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra believes that Cristiano Ronaldo`s departure from Old Trafford will bring the Red Devils together. This summer, English clubs haven`t been able to dominate the transfer market, with prices inflated and clubs feeling the financial pinch.
Liverpool have added width in the form of attack-minded right-back Glen Johnson, while Chelsea are hoping for more punch where the likes of Mikel John Obi is concerned.
Evra has also indicated that the Red Devils will be seeking more attacking input from the team as a whole in order to compensate for the sale of free-scoring winger Ronaldo.
"I have been getting forward a little more," he said.
Indeed, the Frenchman had indicated last season that he was keen to be let off the leash, even before the departure of the famous Portuguese.
"We always like to play with attacking full-backs, but maybe this season we will see more of the left and right-backs in the final third.
"When you had Ronaldo in front of you, sometimes it was just tempting to give him the ball. He could make something happen on his own, although we would overlap at times.”
"Maybe we will attack using more players - more like a team."
United certainly need inspiration from wherever they can get it: they play a promising Wigan Athletic outfit on Saturday, coming off a shock defeat at Burnley.
