New Delhi: With the initial trends suggesting a comfortable win for the opposition Congress party in Karnataka, BJP spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Wednesday admitted that the trends coming from the southern state were depressing. Speaking to reporters, the BJP leader said, “The results available so far are depressing but surprising. It will be too early to say anything at this point.” Naqvi, however, said that in the event of BJP’s defeat the party top brass will deliberate on the likely factors for its poor show in Karnataka despite providing a transparent and accountable government to the electorate there. “We will definitely sit and look into factors that are to be blamed for the party’s poor show in Karnataka after the election results are declared. l Like any other political party, we will also examine our strengths and weaknesses and identify areas where we need to improve,” he said.
