Bangalore: Congress candidate from Rajarajeshwari Nagar for Karnataka polls, K Muniratna Naidu, was on Wednesday arrested on charges of intimidating an election duty official, reports said.
An election official at RR Nagar constituency of Karnataka named Jyothy filed a police complaint against Muniratna after which he was held.
Muniratna, who is also a film producer, has already a criminal charge pending against him as he is being probed by the state Lokayukta in connection with the death of a teenager girl Sanjana Singh due to wall collapse in Ganganagar.
Earlier, Karnataka Congress chief G Parameshwara had written to party president Sonia Gandhi for not giving him ticket from RR Nagar due to the criminal charges against him. However, Muniratna managed to get the ticket.
In face of Muniratna’s arrest, Congress might suspend his nomination, but that will be confirmed only on April 20 as that is the last date for withdrawal of nominations.
