Getting shaved for Swachh Bharat? That's what Bhopal Mayor made people do - WATCH

Swachh Bharat Mission was officially launched on October 2, 2014, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Bhopal: In an unusual incident, the Mayor of Bhopal Alok Sharma got the moustache and beard of some people shaved in order to instill the values of cleanliness in them.

The incident took place at a road crossing in Bhopal's ward number one. 

He said that they had to make Bhopal number one in terms of cleanliness and for that, the initiative should begin from the person himself.

As per reports, Sharma asked them to shave regularly. Later, he compared shaving to cleanliness mission and said that the way one cleans one's face and makes it appear nice, one should also keep one's area and city clean in a similar manner.  

Sharma also asked people to separate the dry and the wet garbage before disposing of them. 

A stage had been decorated for the event and in a video of the incident, people can be seen being called one by one to get their shaving done.

Swachh Bharat Mission or Clean India Mission is a campaign that aims to make India clean, elimination of open defecation through the construction of household-owned and community-owned toilets being one of the objectives.

The mission aims to achieve an ODF in the country by October 2, 2019, the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi, by constructing 12 million toilets in rural India.

The campaign was officially launched on October 2, 2014, at Rajghat in New Delhi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
