Quid pro-quo case: AP minister, BCCI chief, others appear in court

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Major Industries J Geetha Reddy, BCCI chief and India Cements MD N Srinivasan and other accused in the alleged quid-pro-quo investments case involving YSR Congress chief YSR Jaganmohan Reddy`s firms, appeared before a special CBI court here on Wednesday.

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Minister for Major Industries J Geetha Reddy, BCCI chief and India Cements MD N Srinivasan and other accused in the alleged quid-pro-quo investments case involving YSR Congress chief YSR Jaganmohan Reddy`s firms, appeared before a special CBI court here on Wednesday.
Former ministers Sabitha Reddy, Dharmana Prasada Rao and Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao and some IAS officers, who have been named in the ten charge sheets in different aspects of the case also appeared before the court. Jagan and his close aide, auditor V Vijay Sai Reddy did not appear before the court as they were granted exemption from personal appearance yesterday after they filed separate petitions in this regard. The court posted the matter for hearing on March 21. The CBI, in the meanwhile, filed its counter petition to Geetha Reddy`s plea seeking discharge from the case which was also posted for the same date. The case pertains to alleged investments made by various private firms and individuals to the tune of several crores of rupees in Jagan`s businesses, as part of quid-pro-quo arrangement for various favours bestowed on them during the tenure of his father late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh between 2004 and 2009. Meanwhile, when asked by mediapersons over the Supreme Court-appointed committee`s report indicting his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan for betting and passing of team information during IPL matches, Srinivasan said, "I have already spoken (on the matter)...I don`t want to talk."
